ATTENDEES:
Laurie Webber, Clayton Philbrook, Gabe McPhail, Diana Bray, Jake Caron,
Dorian Edwin, Ellen Bunker, Samantha Philbrook, Jeff Messer, Peggy Booth
Titles to Fuel trailers: Dorian suggested transferring the titles of the fuel
trailers to be in the town’s name. Jeff Messer confirmed that this can be done
by mail and shared the application with Jake and Dorian. Jake will fill out
the transfer forms.
Fuel Deliveries: The assessors answered questions submitted by Nat Hussey and
Emily Dillon regarding the fuel delivery insurance. Jake will get them the
information and will also look into rescheduling a meeting with HUB.
Unclaimed Property Report: There were no properties found that are applicable
to this report.
Generator Sale: Ellen will contact Billings this week and speak with a
potentially interested buyer, Jake will begin advertising online.
Truck Lease: Jake has shared a quote with assessors to review and will share
several more that he has received from local dealerships. Jeff Messer
suggested several other dealerships as well as potentially using a fleet
management company for the lease instead of a dealership. Jake will look into
this further.
PIA Flights: Any flights purchased by the town will be done directly through
Jake, or Dorian if Jake is not available. He will keep track of the flights
purchased, who was on them, when they flew, how much freight etc. and make
sure the invoices list the same details.
Clean Diesel Program: Gabe and Jake are looking into this program. Dorian has
provided Jake with most of the documents needed and will have the rest soon.
Jake has reached out to the individual responsible for accepting applications
and will update when he has heard back regarding timing for applying.
Airport Sale Update: Gabe Nat & Jake will meet on Thursday the 24th to discuss
the NBRC grant for the airport purchase. The first deadline for application is
on the 29th of August. Possibility of a second grant to cover the other 50%
was suggested by Clayton to be looked into. Jake will update with more
information before next assessors meeting.
Newsletter: Ellen suggested the newsletter be published on a case by case
basis, depending on how much communication is needed. Diana has agreed to
share the information of the newsletter with her contacts, recipients list and
organizations. Dorian will make a post on Facebook asking everyone to email
Jake to subscribe to the newsletter.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Power Company: Will most likely be on Labor Day
weekend. The date will be confirmed at the next assessor’s meeting. Jake will
see if there is any local press interested in covering the power plant
opening. Jake will confirm with Phil that the project will be completed by
then before the next assessors meeting. The assessors will create a list of
people they want to invite to the ceremony.
MPEC Rate Increase: The rate increase has been approved. Information regarding
the rate increase will be included in the Newsletter and posted on the
Matinicus Website.
MEMA Loan: Gabe brought up a low interest loan for hazard mitigation processes
due this week. The assessors approved and Gabe will be completing the
necessary form for this loan.
